Hi there!

So here i'm after months of procrastination and telling everyone around me that i'm planning on writing a blog( more precisely, boasting)..i pick myself up to actually get into the act..as i type out these lines, i sit clueless on what i should be blogging about, i decide i should be talking about my new life, in the land of opportunities, i would like to call it land of plenty, far far away from my homeland, India. For those who haven't guessed,( may be i'm poor at giving clues), its Ammeriika( thats how we call it back home)..Well, i got here with a brand new dimension and a tag that says "no longer single"..Of course i'm happy about that..:) and i like the new place too..

As i go-about my days here handling responsibilities as a home maker( which includes lazing in the couch) , listening to numerous tips from my people here on how to be a "smart shopper", cashing in on the discount sale, what to buy and stuff to avoid, its like my daily cup of coffee,i don't know if any of it has sunk in, but i listen ( which is lot different from hearing") , i cant help, but notice quite a few things that are sooo different from India, no i'm not keen on making a list of it, i have heard them all myself from visiting relatives and acquaintances..But i really love to talk about a subtler and profound aspect of this place/people that impressed me.. the way people greet and acknowledge your presence, when you see them or just pass by.

When i visited the mammoth super market here for the first time, the girl at the billing counter, posing a bright smile, asked how my day had been and topped it with "Have a great weekend"..unsure of what to say, i mumbled a good day in return, which she would have barely heard..i say to myself may be she is trained for that, its part of dealing with customers thing...well, it turned out i was wrong, even a random person on the street would wave at you and smile..i have learnt now to at least manage a smile in return. It feels good in a weird sort of way. On a mild introspection i realize we never do such a thing back home ( at least i haven't :()..greeting a total stranger would look outrightly stupid , even dangerous sometimes and more likely a look from the other that clearly spells out "Are you mad"..not to mention that we would even prefer to avoid people whom we know when we bump into them and act as though they are invisible..Well, thats how we are and will be..I'm not ranting about all this, to say nothing is good about India and we need to look to the West and learn blah blah blah...but this is something we could try and imbibe..Let me see if i can do it myself..and i'm starting right way by wishing all those people reading my blog, a great day and a rocking weekend..

Yipee!!..here goes my first blog..eager to read your comments

Until next time
